Significant update of our machine park in 2020!

This year we have already been able to sensibly modernize our machinery in three steps. See further technical details in the current machine list in our download area!

January 2020: A CNC-controlled 3D coordinate measuring machine Hexagon Global Classic 7-7-5, equipped with PC-DMIS 2019 CAD++ control. A universal solution with a swivelling gauge head - ideal for any initial sample inspection and measurements accompanying series production.

February 2020: The Mazak Integrex I-200, a new generation multifunctional turning and milling centre: Mazatrol Smooth-X control, max. turning diameter Ø 658mm, max. turning length 1500 mm.

April 2020: The DMG MORI CMX U50 as a state-of-the-art replacement for decommissioned milling centres: Heidenhain TNC 640 control, maximum traverse paths in x/y/z 850/700/500mm.

Tools made by HAKU successfully installed on the ISS!

Finally, the eagerly awaited day arrived: Extra-vehicular Activity (EVA) of the astronaut Luca Parmitano, who carries out the repair of the cooling system of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS). Result: Success all along the line, not least thanks to the tools manufactured at HAKU. True to the motto: "Precision wherever it is needed".

Tools for NASA: Parts of a "UTTPS"- repair kit for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer AMS

Our NASA project is finished! The "AAF Fittings" as an important component of a repair kit for the cooling system of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) successfully passed final acceptance after long and intensive tests.

Eight of the "AAF Fittings" manufactured by HAKU are permanently installed with the UTTPS repair kit. The task of the astronauts during an Extravehicular activity (spacewalk) will now be to connect the AMS with the new pump system using exactly these fittings.

Distinguished visitors from NASA and RWTH Aachen: Real Astronauts in Alsdorf!

A project that is not even for HAKU an everyday occurrence is casting its shadow already. A purchase order from NASA for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02.1) on the International Space Station (ISS). We are in charge to supply components for the planned repair of the cooling system, which will help to extend the lifetime of the AMS significantly.

In the picture below left an expert technical discussion from left to right: Astronaut Colonel Jeremy Hansen (Royal Canadian Air Force), Professor Dr. Stefan Schael (I. Institute of Physics B of RWTH Aachen University), Astronaut Captain Christopher Cassidy (US Navy SEAL), Kenneth Bollweg (NASA Project Manager AMS-02.1) and Hilger Habsch (CEO HAKU GmbH).
